Dr. Shelley Onderdonk believes in treating animals holistically. A typical
consultation will stress the importance of nutrition, and sometimes address
issues of conditioning and training. A typical treatment entails the
application of several different types of needles in various areas of the body,
supplemented sometimes by herbs, vitamins, massage, or homeopathics.
Shelley
Onderdonk has been practicing veterinary acupuncture since 1998. She is
certified by IVAS and has studied at The Chi Institute. A graduate of Yale and
the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Georgia, she became
attracted to the study of acupuncture because of a life-long interest in Chinese
philosophy. Dr. Onderdonk works closely with two Aiken horse specialists: Banks
Mill Feed, which specializes in top quality horse nutrition; and Helpful
Horsemanship, an organization devoted to training horses and their human
partners.
