Bat World Sanctuary is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization that provides rescue,
rehabilitation, release and sanctuary to thousands of injured and orphaned bats
each year. Over 80% of the bats that are rescued are successfully released back
to the wild. Bats that cannot be released, such as zoo retirees or bats with
crippling injuries, are given lifetime sanctuary.
Bat World Sanctuary
headquarters is located in Texas. There are 15 other BW Rescue Centers in 11
different states. Bat World works to promote the humane treatment of captive
bats in zoo and research environments, to protect wild colonies from abuse and
destruction, to encourage conservation through education, and to increase
awareness about safety issues regarding the inappropriate handling of bats.
Bat World and its affiliates educate thousands of people across the US through
outreach programs at schools, nature centers, and environmental fairs, and Bat
World also offers workshops on bat care and rehabilitation to people from around
the world.
