Marianna has been gardening organically and teaching vegetarian cooking for over
30 years. She has converted her urban yard into gardens which supply most of the
produce for the year as well as for the cooking classes. The gardening classes
include preserving produce by freezing and drying. Cooking class members often
pick what is needed right from the garden. During the winter, the menus use
produce from the freezer, the root cellar, and the pantry, preserved by
Marianna, supplemented with a few fresh items. Whole grain natural foods are
combined for proper nutritional balance. Attention is paid to lowering dietary
fat. Food sensitivity alternatives can be included. Having fun is an important
ingredient, and of course, good taste is of the essence. Groups of 6-7 can also
schedule a private class. Marianna strives to make the classes informative,
experiential, and upbeat. Food should engage the senses, feed our hunger,
nourish our humanity, and be sustainable for the planet.
