Daktari is a registered non profit company. Each week we host 8 under-privileged
children from a village and they stay for 5 days. During their stay they receive
environmental education.In addition they participate in discussions around
social issues such as substance abuse, safe sex and respect (for each other and
the environment). They are shown the job opportunities available in the
eco-tourism industry by actually interviewing employees at a lodge.We also
supplement their education in various school subjects.The most improved child in
each group is given a tree to plant at home.
We take paying volunteers who
are given accommodation and food and help cover the running costs of the
project. During your stay you will be able to help us in our objectives by
helping the children and caring for the animals.It is also possible to arrange
day visits to the many tourist attractions in the area including Blyde River
Canyon and Kruger National Park., or just relax and visit the area.
