Harpseals.org is working to end the annual massacre of harp seals in Canada as
well as the massacre of Cape fur seals in Namibia. Each year, tens to hundreds
of thousands of harp seal pups are killed by off-season Canadian fishermen. Up
to 42% are skinned alive. In Namibia, Cape fur seals are rounded up on a beach
in July, and the baby seals are stabbed in front of their mothers.
In order
to put an end to the violent sealing in Canada, we are promoting the boycott of
Canadian seafood. We are doing this through grassroots outreach, including
distribution of leaflets and tabling at events; mass media advertising; and
publicity campaigns.
We welcome volunteers of all ages with all kinds of
skills and interests and creative ideas.
