The Maryland SPCA advocates spaying and neutering of all pets to combat the
tragic overpopulation situation. To this end, all cats and dogs adopted from the
SPCA are spayed or neutered before they are released to their new owners. There
is no time limit for adoptable animals at The Maryland SPCA. Animals are
considered adoptable unless debilitated by old age, illness, or extremely
aggressive behavior.
