Seton Harvest is a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) initiative sponsored by
the Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent dePaul, a not-for-profit religious
organization committed to promoting sustainable agriculture. Launched in the
Spring of 2006, the project has proven to be a huge success. The first season's
harvest grew from 13,000 pounds to over 40,000 pounds in 2008. Seton Harvest
has the solid support of 147 shareholder families. Twenty percent of the annual
harvest is donated to several area food pantries and shelters. The cost of this
produce is subsidized entirely by the Daughters of Charity. In the spring of
2009, Seton Harvest became a Certified Naturally Grown farm, further
demonstrating the Daughters of Charity commitment to 100% chemically-free
growing practices and sustainable agriculture.
