The Sturgeon River Co-op is a nonprofit, community-based buying club located in
beautiful Northern Michigan. We operate out of a local church building, and all
members are expected to help with the work communally each month. We currently
offer web-based ordering through United Natural Foods, the country's largest
natural products distributor, but we also seek to promote local food by
ordering directly from local suppliers, including a local honey grower, maple
syrup producer, and local, pesticide-free herb farm. Our mission is to make
good, health-sustaining, land-kindly products available to our members at a cost
that is mutually beneficial to both sides of the spectrum by eliminating the
"middle man". By working together to achieve these goals, the "byproduct" of
all our efforts is the extra blessing of getting to know one's neighbors,
