  As a doula, I believe that your birth is a key life experience from which you will draw strength and confidence to be a mother and a woman for the rest of your life. I recognize the lifelong impact of a woman’s experience of her birth and I believe you should be nurtured and protected throughout the process to preserve your strength as a woman and a mother. I understand the physiology, normal progression and the emotional needs of a woman in labor, and will use my expertise to help you through the stages of labor. I will assist you and your partner in preparing for and carrying out your plans for the birth. I feel that it is my responsibility to help dispel fears and doubts before and during your birth. During the birth I stay by your side throughout your labor and birth providing emotional support, physical comfort measures, and an objective viewpoint.As your doula I care about your more than hospital staff, but not as much as your partner, allowing me to be objective but caring and sensitive to your needs.
