If you are a caring, hands-on woman who is interested in the birth
process and
helping women and their babies have a positive birth
experience, Doula work
could be for you. There are many proven benefits of having a doula present at
birth. Research shows that Doula care lowers the rates of medical interventions,
including epidurals, oxytocin use, and cesarean deliveries. Postpartum outcomes
improve as well. Women assisted by doulas have better breastfeeding experiences,
improved maternal-infant interaction, lower incidence of postpartum depression
and anxiety, higher self-esteem and more satisfaction with the birth experience.
We offer Birth Doula training workshops several times a year, and by taking
these classes, you will be one step closer to becoming certified by DONA
International as a Birth Doula, and having the most rewarding work of your life.
