Sixth Street Community Center organizes programs in the areas of food, health
and the environment including (1) expanding access to locally grown organic
foods through Community Supported Agriculture, (2) furthering the education of
young people in sustainable agriculture, nutrition and health through our Seeds
To Supper program and (3) strengthening food safety laws through SOS Food
(www.sosfood.org) which campaigns against genetic engineering and other threats
to our food supply. Our Organic Soul Cafe scheduled to open in Spring 2009 will
offer juices and smoothies and a varied menu of raw and vegetarian dishes and
wild Alaskan and local fish entrees.
