The Local Trust is a non-profit organization dedicated to fighting climate
change through carbon offsets that support local projects in southern Arizona.
The Local Trust is partnering with Tucson Audubon to plant carbon-sequestering
trees and with Habitat for Humanity Tucson to install solar hot water on Habitat
homes. A web-based carbon calculator gives individuals and businesses the
ability to offset greenhouse gas emissions resulting from their transportation
choices and see offset projects created locally with local benefits. The Local
Trust intends to expand this concept into water offsets later this year. Water
offset funds will be used to support rainwater and storm water harvesting
projects that offset the use of increasingly scarce surface and groundwater
supplies in the southwest.
