I have been married to my wonderful husband since 1986, and am the mother of 19-
and 14- year old sons (the first born by unexpected cesearean birth, and the
second by VBAC). I was a child and family therapist for fifteen years before
becoming a doula. I was a hospital based doula until 2005, then left to start
Tree of Life. I have attended over 275 births. I am a certified doula through
Doulas of North America, Int., as well as a licensed clinical social worker. I
have conducted classes, facilitated doula trainings, and spoke at the university
level regarding the benefits of doula care. I also have been interviewed both in
print and on television. I love working with birthing mothers and their support
system, and I respect the birth space. It is not my agenda that is paramount -
it is my clients'. My ultimate goal is for every woman to feel proud and
empowered after she gives birth, no matter what path the birth journey takes.
